Its really real.....

I started this blog back in 2009
as a way to share my motivation to loose weight.

There is documented evidence of each and every
try and fail in this endevour!

In 2012 I noticed alot of success with Weight Loss Surgery!
So diligently signed up to a Private Heath Fund - HCF
and spent the next 12 months saving the out of pocket costs
for this operation!

Unfortunately at the time I decided to give it one last shot with
weight Loss the old fashioned way!
Through Diet & Exercise.
I joined Michelle Bridges.
Very limited success and lots of long term body damage!
I still carry the injury to my knee!
This woman really has no clue about bodies of the obese!

In December 2014
I had a job to do with my work.
Because of my weight it was very difficult
and so decided its time to bite that bullet and get this weight off
for good!!!

I rang around a few Doctors and found one I really liked
that could fit into my limited schedule
and the staff were wonderful!

I rang my health fund - HCF only to be told
No Sorry, we dont cover WLS under the top cover anymore
you need extra cover!
We sent you a letter!
OMG after 3 years I was so cranky!!!

Then the receptionist from the Doctors Surgery rang
and said another woman had the same problem
but she swapped over to Medibank Private for instant cover.
So I did that and that was as easy as a phone call.
HCF did their level best to slow things down,
but I stayed ontop on them and got the paper work finalised!

My Doctors Appointment was January 25th
and I was scheduled for surgery on February 17th!

These are some before photos and measurements.

This was me Late December

Weight: 108.4

My Operation was 17th February 2015
By Doctor Gregory Nolan
in Southport

I needed a fast recovery as I had to get back to work in 10 days!!!

I went in to have the operation
and I was so scared!
I was wheeled into the waiting area and met my anesthetist, who was quiet lovely!
Very reassuring!
Doctor Nolan was running a little late, so we were all just hanging around waiting for him.
When he arrived, we chatted some.
Dr Nolan asked how big a stomach I wanted.
My reply was one that works!
He said Good Answer!

I went in after a little after 8.ooam

I was actually wheeled into the Operating Room
with the massive lights overhead
I was told the "Shimmy" onto the operating table!
I said to the Doctor, "Have you not seen me, I haven't shimmied anywhere in a very long time!"
He laughed!
But I managed to get on the table!
The massive lights were quiet scary! I remember commenting on them!
The anesthetist gave me an injection in my hand
he said let me know when you are feeling sleepy.
I said to him that the walls were moving!
I think he took that as I am feeling sleepy!!
The assistant put the scanner thing on my head to make sure I stayed asleep!
The next thing I remember is waking up in my room and I was so sore!

My chest hurt so bad!
I cried and cried!
The nurse told me that I was so naughty!
She tried to inject me with morphine and I made such a fuss that I had a massive bruise on my thigh!

The next time I woke up I was still so sore!
Stu was there and I waved to him and tried to behave myself!
I was so so thirsty!
I asked for water but they couldn't give me any!
I begged for ice but couldn't have that either!

I slept on and off for a few hours.
Later that day they removed the vibrating things so I could go to the loo.
I was mindful that I had to have a fast recovery
so I asked them that while Im up can I go for a walk!
This surprised the nurses after this mornings performance
so did a lap of the hall.

And that was my hospital experience
Sleep, wee and walk!
I did this for 3 days and then I went home to recooperate on the gorgeous
Gold Coast!

I slept and slept!
It was so refreshing!

In my jarmies, sitting on the balcony drinking my shakes
Liquid diet for a week!

Then I decided to get dressed,
This was the second last day!
I didn't really record much weight loss during this time!
Mega bloating still
and letting my stomach heal.

I was back in Gunnedah and at work to do a function by 27th February.

Life has mostly had its ups.
Im still on a combination of liquids and puree diet.I was supposed to move onto soft food
but I am still having pain swallowing.
I think its due to the hernia repair,

March 13th I was 102.8
Bust: 110
Waist: 96
Hips: 127
Thigh: (Wrong reading)
Bicep: 39
Neck: 33

Here are some photos from that week.

*****
Right now I am under the "jump" weight!
My first goal was to get under 100 kgs.
I have to be under 100 to be able to parachute!
I am 99.8 Yay!!
Ive not been 99.8 in a very long time!
Its been 4 weeks since the operation, and 6 weeks since the prediet!
Im really really happy with my progress!

Round 2....... 12 WBT Challenge

I've just completed Round 1 of the challenge as you know.
So to do something a little different this round, I decided I will do a video diary. It will be good for me to look back on as well and see the changes in my face and hear where my mind is at.

It was so strange recording this video. I found it so disconcerting watching myself, so I found I tried to avoid looking at the screen. Hence my looking down, or looking sideways rather then looking at myself.  I kept thinking "My mouth is so small!!"....  lol

Anyway, here it is.....   In 4 weeks I will do another one and we can see the changes ourselves!

The Evidence

It really is quite amaising when you look at the photos.
You know you have lost weight, because clothes are bigger
you can see it one the scales
and you feel so much lighter and better!
But to look at the before and after photos is the thing that hits you!

I still have like more than 45 kilos to loose!
But I know I can do it now,
so that being said I feel ok about showing these photos,
because we wont be seeing me like this again!!!!

I still have a couple of days left for this round...

But here are the results from Round 1

December 2012
117 Kilos. Approx.
(Could have been more!)

April 2012
104 kilos

And look at the undie photos!!!
Amaising!
I have a neck!

Saying it Outloud - Around 2 12 WBT Challenge

I dont have any photos for you yet,
but I will endevour to take one this week.

I've just signed up for another 12 Weeks with Michelle Bridges.

I think it helps to stay focused having someone to answer to.
I mean its not like Michelle keeps an eye on everyone!
I doubt she is even aware of who is doing the program now
on a individual basis,
there are just way to many.
But it is the concept of being accountable.

I have achieved some fabulous things this last round!
I will list a few of them:
  • I dont mind the look of myself in the mirror at the moment! I still have masses amount of weight to loose, but I dont gross myself out now!
  • My backside fits into chairs now!! This is huge!
  • If I was over in New Zealand again now, I would so be able to para glide ! I mean this is the thing that triggered this journey after all!
  • I feel comfortable in my clothes!
  • My husband can reach around and cuddle me tightly!
  • I  will be able to ride with Emelia when I go to Emerald.
  • I can wear jeans and my butt doesn't look totally gross and saggy in them like some disgusting sloppy shopping bag full of mush!!  Honestly that is the grossest sight!! I stopped wearing jeans or any pants where people could see my arse cheeks hanging like some disgusting alien!
  • Im getting better in the kitchen
  • I am getting pretty fit and am comfortable working out.
  • I am getting more and more confident about food choices on a daily basis.
Really, there has been alot of positives this time!
Only one negative!
MY KNEE
It is still sore, and I still cant work it hard two days in a row. I have to do a heavy session and then a couple of days of low impact. It just seams to have stopped getting better.

But to this round.

I need to drink more water each day!!!
I need to regain my organisation. Being unorganised is my way of self sabotashing!
Stick to the menus!
Subway is good, now and then in an emergency, but my own food is much better!

Looking forward to some great changes again over the next 12 weeks!
